January 19 The Allies officially recognize the independent Armenia.


January 19 Behaeddin Shakir is sentenced in absentia to death by court-martial in Constantinople.


January 21 Nationalist forces with ties to Mustafa Kemal attack Marash.


February 5 10,000 Armenians are massacred in Marash.


April 25 The Peace Conference in San Remo requests U.S. President, Woodrow Wilson, to act as arbitrator and determine the borders between Armenia and Turkey.


August 5 , The Vice-Governor of Bayburt, Nussret, is sentenced by court-martial to death.


August 10 The S&ecute;vres Treaty is signed. In accordance with Articles 226, 227, 228, 229 and 230 the Turkish Government is required to hand over all documents and suspects of the Armenian massacres to the Allies. Articles 88 and 89 recognize Armenia as an independent and free state.


November 22 President Woodrow Wilson presents the boundary between Armenia and Turkey.


November Of Hadjin's 10,000 Armenians only 480 survive a massacre carried out by the Turkish Nationalist (Kemalist) forces.
