January 18 The Ottoman Government dissolves the war trials in order to handle the cases in higher courts.


January 20 The Turkish National Movement demands that Armenia, Smyrna and Thrace to be re-included in Turkish territory.


January 21 A new and higher court begins to investigate the Erzurum massacres.


February 24 The investigation of the massacres in Der Zor begins.


March 15 Talaat is shot dead in Berlin by an Armenian student, Soghomon Tehlirian. However, the German court acquits Tehlirian, adding that Talaat, who had been sentenced to death for war crimes, was considered to be de facto dead. In 1944, the Nazi Germany handed over his remains to Turkey, where he was given a state funeral and was elevated to nation's hero.
