July 25 Jemal Pasha, the former Minister of Navy and Governor of Syria, is killed in Tiflis (Tbilisi).
September 9 During the Turkish National Forces' attack on Smyrna (Izmir), the Armenian and Greek stores are plundered. Armenians and Greeks are killed in thousands.
September 13 The Turks burned down Smyrna. Within 24 hours, 50,000 houses, 24 churches, 28 schools, 5 Consulates, 7 clubs, 5 banks, and unknown number of shops and warehouses are destroyed.
